Encanto Craft

The three sisters: Mirabel, lsabela and Luisa are represented in this art pack throughout different windows, showing themselves and their vulnerabilities. What brings them together is family, a rustic patchwork, all sewn and assembled with love and care. Showcasing a handcraft-inspired style, along with vibrant colors and unique patterns.

In this program we focused on using crafting textures, fabrics, buttons and threads to create a unique collage for each of the sisters.

Embracing our inner child

Most often than not, it’s hard to let our inner child out to play, even in the most creative spaces. It was a challenge to reconnect with this view, to stop for moments of the process and think “would our past children selves like this?” We imagined how the materials would play out on each badge, how would the characters from the movie would represent themselves in each window if they could, what fabrics and elements would they pick.

Collage Patterns

We designed each pattern as a module first, in this case it was a challenge of creating a patchwork effect while allowing the seamlessness of the pattern to come through.

Family Mosaics

Inspired by the modular and ornamental composition of mosaics, this program was designed with the idea of representing each character and its traits, along with patterns and editorial lines through interchangeable pieces that can work on their own, but make a more powerful image when put together.

Color Palettes

Each triad of family members has their own color combination. While Pepa’s children have warm colors, Julieta’s have cold tones, along with blues and purples. The three older siblings themselves have their own color palette, mixing warm and cold colors with greens and taupes. This helped emphasize the wide variety of the family Madrigal.

Geometric Mandala

Concept

The concept of this program is inspired by mandalas. At the center of each mandala lies the soul, the character, and around them, we can observe the elements that represent them in the universe of "Encanto."

Color Palette

Mandalas are vibrant and colorful elements, much like the colors representing the movie and its characters. These color explorations led us to create distinct palettes for each mandala, always considering the common thread of the Madrigal family
