Mickey & Friends

Is a project consisting of two programs developed under the same concept. The objective is to showcase sports, particularly football, as a form of expression and passion, and to explore how individuals engage with it. Based on these ideas, we created two pathways: one focused on the emotions and impulses evoked by sports, and another inspired by the analytical and strategic aspects of the game.

Program 1: Sketch & Splash

We focused on representing the passion and experience of football fans, emphasizing the emotion that the game generates among its followers. To develop this concept, we drew inspiration from the neo-expressionist movement, specifically the art of Basquiat, as well as elements of urban art, such as the use of impulsive strokes, brushstrokes resembling doodles that create the image or highlight figures, visually explosive compositions, and intervention with textures and strokes over stains or shapes.

Typography

The project called for strong and impactful typography to represent the energy, passion, and emotion that football generates. To achieve this, bold and sans-serif fonts were used, with each letter being modified to emphasize the strength and dynamism that the graphic style brings.

Color Palette

Football is a sport with immense reach, mobilizing millions of people from different countries. It was important to create a palette that reflected this. To achieve this, we decided to work with color triads, in addition to black and white, to represent different places, teams, and individuals, aiming to showcase diversity.

Mickey and his friends attend a match and experience it with pure emotion, connecting deeply with their favorite team. Poses are of utmost importance, as the fans' body language on the field is dynamic and effusive. For this reason, we illustrated the characters in full body and accompanied them with phrases that allude to the sport

Program 2:

Geometric Design

For this second proposal, the focus needed to change to differentiate both in aesthetics and conceptually. Drawing inspiration from the technical, strategic, and even physical elements that are part of football, we developed the second program. In order to emphasize the aforementioned aspects, we created geometric visuals where the elements interact with each other, as if it were a football match. One becomes part of the sport, and the sport becomes part of oneself.

Typography

The typographic usage for the project stems from the combination of geometric, rational, and even modular elements with the characteristic features of football. Likewise, the aim was to add depth to the texts to create the sensation of being in a three-dimensional environment, where the different players of the composition could interact. Once the foundations of the letter design were established, they were enhanced with various textures and miscellaneous elements related to football.

Color Palette

Focusing on the foundations of this program, a palette was sought to complement the concept of strategy, geometry, and modularity. Palettes used in abstract and geometric art, such as those by artists like Mondrian, were referenced, where the number of colors is limited, with a strong presence of primary colors. This was done to accentuate the objectivity and rationality of the technical aspect of football,

Badge Design

In this proposal, we envisioned football as an integral part of oneself, emphasizing the unity with the sport. By deconstructing various sporting elements, the faces of the characters are formed. We proposed to visually represent this through a modular and geometric graphic, where the character itself is generated by the addition of different shapes. Simultaneously, we included miscellaneous elements that allude to plays and interact with the whole composition.
