Project: Animation Cafe

We took part in the full development of the graphic experience for Liverpool - Disney Animation Café Mexico, a space created to immerse visitors in the world of animation through an interactive, sensory and playful journey. Our work covered every corner, but let’s start with the basics:

Defining the identity

We developed a manual, defining the graphic guidelines with the purpose of ensuring their correct application. The logo consists of three parts: the name of the cafe accompanied by the Disney logo and the Liverpool logo. The secondary version is made for small applications. Within the color palette, we have three main colors, four secondary ones, and a final group for details.

Designing Magical Experiences

Our work went beyond illustration. We conceptualized the full experience, designed the spatial layout, developed the visual narrative, and built a graphic system that runs throughout the entire cafe.

From the moment guests walk in, the environment begins to tell a story. Ordering screens, placemats for coloring and playing, fully customized menus, and themed food with integrated illustrations all contribute to a cohesive and immersive experience that connects directly with the magic of animated films.

Badges

To animate we go through different stages of drawing, from a simple sketch to the final linework and color. In this process, paper becomes especially important, as it is the surface where the artist brings their work to life: sheets of different colors, textures, and levels of transparency.

We wanted to explore the world of collage, where various drawings are layered to create a single illustration, appreciating the technique and generating movement. To do this, we aimed to recreate iconic movements from our favorite characters, where each frame represents a step in the drawing process.

Connecting Elements

To connect the badges with each other, we developed a series of miscellaneous elements and compositions that can be used behind or on top of the badges to create a seamless visual flow from one to another. The illustrations are drawn from moments in the films, mainly scenes that emphasize food, while others combine several of the movie’s iconic backgrounds.

These elements were designed in a way that allows them to also work independently, making them more versatile when it comes to placing them within compositions.

Interactive Environment

As this entire experience is based on the creation of many beloved movies and characters, customers can immerse themselves even more in the world of animation through virtual reality effects and by drawing their favorite characters with the help of an app we helped develop specifically for the café.

Magical Food

We were also involved in the development of the menu. We created different layout proposals and illustrated a wide variety of the dishes offered at the cafe, in order to present the menu in a way that aligns with the overall animation concept.
